Early 19th Century French Restauration Period Elm Armchairs with Urn Motif

About the Item

This pair of French Restauration period walnut armchairs from the early nineteenth century features scrolling arms and gently curved legs. The back legs are flared "en sabres", or like sabers in English, and are contiguous with the gently sloping back. The rich patina of the solid walnut frame boasts a warm glow. The seats and backs are upholstered with an embroidered urn motif and finished with nail head trim, circa 1820.
