Queen Anne / George I chair with shepherd crook arms and vasiform splat beneath a yoke crest rail. The upholstered slip set is supported by cabriole front legs which terminate in a pad foot. England, circa 1720.

    Wear consistent with age and use. The chair has been refinished and stabilized and all wood surfaces have been cleaned and polished. The right back corner of the upholstered seat has a water mark on the fabric (see photos for detail). Wear commensurate with age and use.

Like the other Georgian periods, this one was named after the monarch during the time. Under George II, mahogany became the predominant wood used for fine furniture.
