Flexform set of two armchairs 1950s

About the Item

Set of two armchairs 1950s Teak wood frame original fabric of the time in excellent condition Flexform production late 1950s. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Galimberti family started a craft workshop to make armchairs and sofas. In 1959, brothers Romeo, Pietro and Agostino Galimberti decided to call the business Flexform by Galimberti, marketing the products locally. In 1967 the company became an S.p.A and was transformed from a craft workshop into an industry. Collaborations with Italian architects and designers began, many of whom were destined to become protagonists of Italian design. When you purchase vintage design products on our website, the cost includes secure and careful packaging. Each item will be protected with a wooden crate or suitable packing materials to ensure it arrives in perfect condition. In 1969 Flexform entrusted the study of the brand to Pino Tovaglia, the graphic designer who designed the Pirelli brand in the same years, while the designer Joe Colombo designed the Tube Chair, later exhibited in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. From the 1970s Flexform began exporting abroad. Participating in the Cologne Furniture Fair in Germany, it made a name for itself in northern European markets. This was followed by years of economic expansion throughout Europe, which led the second generation of the Galimberti family to broaden their commercial horizon to include overseas countries. With the entry of the third generation at the end of the 1990s, exports to Brazil, Russia, China, the USA and far and middle-east countries were consolidated. At the same time, there was a need to further diversify the offer to satisfy the tastes of emerging markets. Flexform Mood, a new collection of products, was launched in 2001.
