Gothic Revival Georgian Irish Chesterfield Leather Carver Armchair, circa 1800
About the Item
We are delighted to offer for sale this very rare original steeple back circa 1800 Georgian Irish in the Gothic revival manor armchair
A very good looking collectable and decorative armchair. It’s made after the early Gothic designs which were in solid wood, this is a later Georgian Irish adaptation and designed to use as a desk chair
The frame is ornately carved from solid mahogany, the detailing is sublime, in a world of thousands of variations of carver chairs this is a special piece. The leather upholstery is thick and hard wearing, the timber has a nice warm glow to it, the padding is the original horse hair
We have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, it has genuine and a reflective patina. I can have it fully restored to include having the upholstery hand dyed a lovely deep cigar brown colour, the timber can be washed back and French polished, for a price please ask

Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
