About the Item

A beautiful armchair, handcrafted in India out of aged and naturally seasoned teak wood, inlaid with responsibly sourced bone and artisanally weaved cane. Round top, cane back, upholstered seat and turned legs with flowered inlay pattern throughout. Inlay is ancient decorative technique that involves embedding delicate, hand-carved pieces of bone (in earlier times it was ivory and ebony) into the surface of an object, generally wood. The result makes for a striking pattern, floral or geometric, of contrasting colors and materials that make these pieces truly unique. Handcrafted from start to finish by Indian artisans with techniques passed down through generations, no two pieces of inlaid furniture are exactly the same. These charming chairs can be used as dinner chairs, accent chairs or as any other catching and exotic accent to any ambient and any eclectic decor. The back is artisanally weaved in cane. A fixed cushion, upholstered in basic white muslin, is attached to the seat. If desired, the cushion can be removed and re-upholstered to taste (we recommend professional upholstery). Only two available, sold individually. Dimensions: 22" Wide, 19.5" Deep, 36.5" High. Seat height: 19.5 in. Arm height: 29 in.
