Secessionist Jugendstil Four ( 4 ) Armchairs or Corner Chairs designed by Josef Hoffmann circa 1899, Vienna. A wonderful and very rare set of four ( 4 ) outstanding armchairs or corner chairs in triangle form from black stained beech designed by Josef Hoffmann circa 1899 for the 5th exhibition of the Secession in the year 1900 in Vienna. Josef Hoffmann ( 1870 - 1956 ) Josef Hoffmann had a membership at the Vienna Secession. The Vienna Secession was in the past and also in the present an outstanding exhibition building designed by Josef Maria Olbrich 1897 / 98. The 5th exhibition showed graphics and paintings, many famed artists showed their works and paintings, e.g Renoir, Toulouse-Lautrec, just to name a few ) and Josef Hoffmann was as leading designer responsible for the decoration in many rooms. Skill and design were the main focus to the works of the Vienna Secession, while furniture, paintings and objects were included in the original exhibitions in 1900 in Vienna. These four triangle armchairs features a geometric shape with three legs and decorative ornaments.
