About the Item

H-269 vintage armchair was designed by Jindřich Halabala for UP Závody and produced in the 1950s. The wood bending method developed by Thonet was used for their production, which allows each handrail to be made from one piece of solid beech wood. Completely restored, The wooden elements have been cleaned of old surface and painted with an oak stain and finished with a stronq semi matt lacquer. The seats are upholstered with high-quality gray fabric finished with piping.

The armchair has been restored and reupholstered by our professional refurbishing team in Czechia according to the original process. More about the designer Jindrich Halabala was born on May 24, 1903 in Korycany into the family of carpenter Štepán Halabala, whose craft he learned in a family business between 1918 and 1920. He then joined the State Czechoslovak Vocational School for Wood Processing in Valašské Mezirící, which he graduated from two years later. After school, he started practicing at the United UP races, where he met their founder Jan Vanek.
