Pair George III Open Arm Chairs, Vintage Fortuny Upholstery

About the Item

This is an exceptional pair of Adam Style George III, c. 1780 painted and gilt open arm chairs. The chairs are newly upholstered in a vintage (c.1970-1980's) Fortuny. The vintage Fortuny has mellowed to just the right tone for the original pale gray-green of the painted chair frames. Finding the perfect Fortuny textile was serendipitous as it seemed to have fallen right into my hands. This pair of chairs is in the style of John Linnell and it is the epitome of elegance--from the raked back legs to the exagerated slope of the arms and exquisite painted surface, these chairs are the perfect complement to a Park Avenue apartments or a gracious Southern home. Both chairs are sturdy and ready for another 200 years of use. This pair of chairs would complement any period room as they are understated and very chic.

Bar Harbor Wicker Arm Chair
Located in Pasadena, CA
This is a classic Bar Harbor style wicker chair that dates to the first half of the twentieth century. The chair was reupholstered in a cherry red fabric and repainted at some point in the late twentieth century. The chair is in very good condition; the upholstery, although showing sign of use, is in very acceptable condition. We have decided not to restore the chair as the indications of wear are signs of original desirable patina and add character to the chair. This chair would work well in both an indoors casual setting, as well as outdoors under a covered veranda or terrace. We have listed several additional antique and vintage wicker...
