Pair of Armchairs by Gastone Rinaldi. Italy, Rima, 1954.
A fine pair of '55P' armchairs upholsterd in an off white wool material. Oak legs with brass feet.
A rare set of these armchairs, very comfortable indeed! Seat height: 42cm.
Literature: Repertorio del Design Italiano 1950-2000, p.36, illustrated.
The earlier model DU30 chair by Gastone Rinaldi, produced for RIMA, was honoured with a 1954 Compasso d'Oro award for its distinctive form and essential structure. This recognition was especially significant because it highlighted Rinaldi's innovative approach to industrial design, particularly his creative use of technical possibilities available at the time, such as employing metal in the seat's supporting structure.
