Pair of B64 Cesca armchairs by Marcel Breuer 1970s Made in italy Chrome Beech

About the Item

This set of armchairs features a sleek chromed-steel tubular cantilever base with a caned seat and back, all encased in a beechwood frame. Designed by Marcel Breuer in 1952 and this pair was produced in Italy during the 1970's probably by Gavina, the pair has no stickers remaining only the ''made in italy'' pressed into the beech frame. In 1925, Marcel Breuer created the first tubular steel chair, drawing inspiration from the frame of a bicycle. His groundbreaking Cesca chair, named after his daughter Francesca, combines the practicality of caning and hardwood beech with the industrial elegance of cantilevered tubular steel. The timeless design includes a chromed-steel tubular base, with a caned seat and back, all framed in beech This pair remains in good vintage condition with patina on the wood and chrome and some minor wear and tear to the cane seats (see close ups)
