Pair of French 19th Century Louis XV Style Giltwood High Back Armchairs
About the Item
A sensational and large scale pair of French 19th century Louis XV st. giltwood high back armchairs. Each is raised by handsome and richly carved cabriole legs with an elegant lattice designed background and large acanthus leaves and rosettes. The front frieze is decorated by a central shell flanked by the same lattice designed background and scrolled acanthus leaves. The arms repeat the same decoration with carved flowers. The wide and tall back has a central richly carved shell flanked by acanthus leaves. All with original burnished and satin gilding throughout. Seat Height: 20.5".
