About the Item

A most elegant and extremely high-quality pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. giltwood "Bergères À Oreilles" armchairs. Each chair is raised by fine circular tapered fluted legs with lovely topie shaped feet, mottled top caps and decorative block rosettes. The street frieze display mottled and fluted designs that lead up to the cushioned arms. The elegantly shaped upholstered back supports display richly carved spiral ribbon designs leading to striking acanthus leave reserves at the tops. Also finished at the back.
