About the Item

A striking pair of Italian 19th century Louis XV st. giltwood armchairs à Chassis. Each upholstered armchair, à Chassis, which signifies that the upholstery is easily removed and changed for every season, is raised by fine cabriole legs ending in hoof feet. At the corner are fine foliate designs centering the arbalest shaped frieze and a rich seashell reserve. Each arm displays a wonderful and most unique movement with a mottled scrolled design and fine foliate patterns. The cushioned back support displays a mottled border and beautiful reeded seashell reserves. All original gilt throughout.
