About the Item

Very rare Chishen Chiu extensible armchair Flexible Love manufactured in early 2000s. This project is all about community and sharing social interactions. Designed by Taiwanese artist Chishen Chiu, the eye-catching sofa is made of recycled paper and wood. Titled “FlexibleLove”, the eco-sofa is an adaptable piece of art, which can be extended into a 12 seat bench or compacted down into a seat chair. Thanks to the sable perforate structure, the sofa remains in an optimal form . This strong curiosity, back in 2005, led Chishen Chiu to the creation of first FlexibleLove chair. Why not use paper to make furniture? he and his team asked themselves, fascinated by the beauty, flexibility, and incredible durability of paper honeycomb structure. Why not use recycled cardboard paper and recycled wood fiber? This let them to three versions of this foldable, accordion- like chair, Earth, the first-ever original version, Marble that steals anyone's attention but its white beauty and Sandstone, which is a limited edition for unlimited seating. Here, we offer you the "Earth" version the first original version, the rarest and the most sought after which will undoubtedly become an icon of world design. The Taiwanese designer Chishen Chiu motivated his design choice with the following words: “ The name “FlexibleLove” was derived from the concept of a ‘flexible love-seat’ – seating that could hold from one to as many as sixteen individuals; changing length and shape with a simple pull at each end.
