About the Item

Extremely Rare Pair Modernist Arm Chairs designed by Walter von Nessen , circa 1929. Chairs retain they're original color, finish, patina, In need of restoration, mainly feet ,(veneer)..From my bit of research,,it appears this was a common problem, remedied by feet (foot) replacement...Truly amazing design,, art ,sculpture,, Hand delivery avail to New York City or anywhere en route from Buffalo NY Purportedly chairs were once part of the original furnishings for the house of Mr. and Mrs. Glendon Allvine, built in 1929 on Malone Avenue in Long Beach, NY. At the time, the press heralded it as “America’s First Modernistic Home.” Walter Von Nessen was born in Germany and studied with Bruno Paul. After immigrating to the United States, he rose to prominence as an architect. He designed furniture that was made by Nessen Studios in New York, as well as industrial fixtures manufactured by Chase Brass & Copper Co., A.H. Heisey & Co., and the Efcolite Corp.
