About the Item

Set of two Art Deco armchairs designed by famous Jindrich Halabala in 1930s in Czechoslovakia. One of his iconic models, H269. The armchairs have been preserved in near-collector’s condition, making them a truly unique acquisition in the vintage furniture market. They have been gently cleaned and refreshed to preserve their authenticity and historical character. The wooden elements are in excellent condition, with a rich, dark patina typical of the era. The original upholstery remains intact, showcasing rare, original stitching that enhances their exclusivity. Both armchairs feature original THONET label, confirming their authenticity and prestigious provenance. They come from a historic townhouse in the Czech Republic, where they had remained since their initial purchase, adding further historical significance to their value. The chairs are distinguished by their rare backrest stitching, a unique detail that sets this pair apart from standard versions of the H269 model. Their construction, made from bent beechwood, highlights the exceptional craftsmanship of Czech furniture-making and maintains the legacy of Thonet’s renowned design principles. This pair of original Halabala H269 armchairs, preserved in near-collector’s condition, is an incredibly rare find on the market. More than just furniture, they represent a piece of design history, adding timeless elegance and character to any space.
