About the Item

Apuí is a fast-growing, highly flexible, and woody vine native to the Amazon region, similar to Rattan. Tiago Curioni chose this raw material to give life to the Poltrona Toro (Toro armchair). The chair's standout feature is its horn-shaped backrest, evoking the grandeur of a throne, while providing a relaxed and free seating experience. The joints are skillfully finished with tied vines, adding an ethnic and somewhat tribal flair reminiscent of furniture found in eastern countries. The author shares a brief account of their experience: "- When I first encountered this material, I must admit I didn't pay much attention to it. However, after realizing its unique properties and qualities, I was determined to incorporate it into our range. The initial idea for the Toro Armchair was to use solid wood, but due to its intricate curves and twists, it would have required extensive machining and lathe work, rendering the project nearly impossible. Enter Apuí, an efficient alternative that fits perfectly, creating sinuous and flawless contours while offering two significant advantages: being lightweight and sustainable as it replaces solid wood with a fast-growing vine." The Toro armchair boasts a matte varnish finish and a generously cushioned seat supported by a wooden structure and straps, covered in synthetic felt, providing a soft and pleasant touch. The cushion is securely fixed to the structure, ensuring a safe, stable, and highly durable piece. Due to the use of Apuí, a vine known for its lightweight characteristics, the armchair remains light without compromising its structural integrity. Being entirely handcrafted, each piece becomes an exclusive and individual creation, making every Toro armchair unique in its own way. Choose fabric color from sand (product photo), gray, or brown.
