Contemporary Bench in Tropical Hardwood and Cord by Ricardo Graham Ferreira
About the Item
Contemporary tropical bench made in freijó or "Brazilian 'walnut" hardwood and natural ramie cord.
The rope which draws the arms and the backrest of the bench acts also as a support for the seat, allowing it to float over the structure.
The shelf located behind the seat is a neat feature, allowing the sofa to work as well as a room divider.
Upholstered in futon with fabric.
This piece can be made in different sizes and with different wood species.
Ricardo Graham Ferreira is a Brazilian woodworking artist who learned cabinet making in northern Italy and southern France.
The traditional woodworking craft was brought by Ricardo to the tropics, in his hometown Rio de Janeiro, where local sustainable forest management and precious reclaimed tropical hardwoods, are handcrafted into original woodworking pieces by this Brazilian artist.

Ricardo Graham Ferreira

In 2002 Ricardo went to Italy, more precisely to the Brianza region, where lived for 3 years learning woodworking in "the city of furniture making", Meda. After that obtained a higher degree in woodworking attending the École Supérieure d'Ébénisterie d’Avignon, a prestigious school located in Provence, south of France. His workshop, known as “oEbanista”, was established in 2006, and it's located at Nova Friburgo, a city found on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
