About the Item
A charming and most elegant French 19th century Louis XVI st. patinated and Giltwood bench/settee. This wonderful small scale settee is raised by four circular tapered fluted legs ending with toupie shaped feet. The straight apron above displays a recessed central band with a richly carved Giltwood twisted ribbon. The two caned and scrolled sides are accented with bottom Giltwood acanthus leaves, while at the top are wonderful berried laurel designs centered by a bowed ribbon. The caned double scrolled back support showcases an intertwined circular top carved motif flanking a central floral reserve.
