Italian Vintage Modernist Brutalist Style Solid Wood High Back Settee Benches

About the Item

This vintage Mid-Century Modern period solid wood banquette settee was probably a chapel pews benches. These original and rare high back seatings strike us with their sculptural shape and visible gilded metal screws -both on the seat and on the sides- that add an industrial touch to their wonderful post-modernist and brutalist style. The benches feature a comfortable deeply carved rectangular paneled back, the geometric sculptural shape of the sides is simply amazing it spreads downwards in a single block of solid thick wood up to the feet in a perfect example of high quality handcrafted European furniture. The beautiful wood grain with its honey color makes these banquettes even more desirable. The convenient size and shape and the beautiful color make these benches easy to place and practical to use in all kinds of interiors and spaces both inside or outside your home. Thanks to their relatively minimalist style, they can also be used both in contemporary, modern or classical interiors and buidlings. Their scale make these settees perfect for decorating a hallway or a mudroom but also a study or your porch. In pair they will look fantastic alongside your dining table or in the kitchenette to place in your breakfast area perhaps with some nice pillows or big cushions! These unique pair of solid wood church benches are as practical as they are fabulous, stable and sturdy to use for years to come. Perfect structural condition, very good vintage condition, minor wear consistent with age and use. Located in Firenze, IT
This magnificent pair of French late 18th Century- early 19th Century armchairs could be attributable to Jacob-Desmalter, an outstanding chairmaker and cabinetmaker who worked in the Louis XVI style and Directoire styles of the earlier phase of Neoclassicism. These sturdy armchairs are made of solid mahogany and green silk upholster, they feature an extremely comfortable high and slightly arched back and quite large and extremely firm seats. The hand-made carvings and inlays are masterfully executed. The over graceful scrolled arms and the top rail sculpted in shallow relief with acanthus leaves, lotus leaves and rosette, all typical neoclassical patterns beloved during the Directory- Restauration and Empire period and always very chic. The bowed seat and its apron are raised by carved console legs in front and saber legs back. These armchairs with their beautiful curvy shape are very stylish, comfortable and sturdy. The back is covered with silk also behind that's make them a perfect free standing piece of furniture or a centre seating...

19th C Jacobean Renaissance Carved Oak High Back Cane 3 Seater Hall Bench Settee
Located in Llanbrynmair, GB
A decorative and well presented 19th Century Jacobean renaissance carved oak three seater high back bench settee.  A superb quality piece with ornate arched back and cane inset panels. A lovely contrast with dark, almost ebonised wood frame, and light coloured cane seating. Gently curved arms, which are very inviting, are typical of this style.  The bench sits on eight legs, all connected by their original turned stretchers with additional decorative arched mounded stretchers to the front.  A good sized, well proportioned piece with generous seat.  The three seat design provides a lovely balanced and symmetrical feel to the piece. Seat height = 46cm / 18" The piece is in excellent condition, there are a couple of historic repairs to the arched tops (see photos) but these are well made repairs and are in-keeping with the piece.  The bench is sturdy with the cane seating also in excellent order.  The item is clean and ready for installation. Provenance: This piece sat for many years at the famous London...
