Louis XV Style Giltwood Upholstered Window Seat
Mid- to Late 20th Century
A decorative upholstered window seat in the Louis XV style, dating from the mid to late 20th century. The shaped and cushioned seat is upholstered in a rich gold damask fabric with a classic foliate pattern. The giltwood frame is carved with scroll and shell details and finished in gold leaf or composition gilt, now mellowed with an attractive patina.
The seat stands on elegant cabriole legs united by a serpentine X-stretcher with a central finial. A versatile and stylish piece, well suited for a dressing room, entryway, or foot of bed.
