The Meditation Bench by STUDIO KUHLMANN. Kuhlmann concentrates on creating works with contradictory functions and images without abandoning beauty or consumer logic. It strives to blur the boundaries between acceptable furniture typologies and conceptual representative objects.
Handmade in Germany, the Meditation Bench is available in various sizes and is made to order as per your specifications.
STUDIO KUHLMANN, an interdisciplinary design studio launched by Hannah Kuhlmann in 2017. With a pinch of humour, she creates unique and limited-edition design objects from her atelier in Cologne, Germany.
Her work is a study of sculptures, playing with the balance between design objects and conceptual sculptures. Known for her signature tubular stainless steel light fixtures and objects, forms are combined again and again to form new ones and mime an evolution from one object to the next.
Her work embraces the naturally occurring deformations of the tubes that occur during free welding, thus criticising the process of industrial production. Each sculpture becomes a unique piece through this process, because even when the forms returns, a natural deformation remains.

Blades and monoliths of pure abstraction are embedded onto the monumental legs of a 19th century Italian table, overflowing with decorations. Or a dense inlay of oriental scenes. The journey is in time, in style, but also in space. It crosses East and West. And the journey, that draws on different cultures, leads to hybrid furnishings, with an aesthetic somewhere between a master of minimalism like Carl Andre and the most refined wood essences of high antiques. The chairs of an oriental living room, for example, made in Hong Kong at the beginning of the twentieth century, have a decorative light-heartedness that knows how to dialogue with steel. This is the project of SUPERMOBILE2046, signed by Daniele Daminelli, a rising star of limited edition Italian design-sculpture, selected among the 100 designers of the moment in the list of AD100-Special decorator.
