Mid 20th C. French Scalloped Steel + Wood Bench
About the Item
Incredible French Midcentury wood and iron bench with incredible, naturally developed patina.
There are remnants of blue paint, which has mostly weathered away, but bits do cling onto the wood and steel in the most perfect way possible.
The wood ends have scalloped shaping, adding the perfect level of sweetness, counterbalanced by the more industrial steel structure of the base. The splayed series of supports dance down the length of the bench, with little "feet" that punctuate each.
There are lateral supports as well for rigidity; please note two are missing.
A very hefty piece and a a great size for an entry hall, or to provide seating at the foot of a bed. A wonderful piece to use as a cocktail table as well.
