We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning original circa 1825 Ebonised and gold gilt hand painted Baltimore side chair A highly collectable and well made side chair, if you are looking at this listing then chances are you know how rare and important these pieces are. They were classed as Baltimore “Fancy” furniture due to the ornate painted details, they are steeped in American history and a quick google will give you pages of fascinating reading for the history buffs This chair is an important significant piece for any collector of folk art Americana, anyone who knows fine furniture will recognise and appreciate these immediately. The frame has the original ebonised finish which is highlighted with gold gilt accents and hand painting The chair has been sympathetically restored to include having all the timber lightly cleaned, hand condition waxed and hand polished, the frame have been checked and secured as required, it is now good and strong and ready to go for the next 200 years! Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
