Antique 19th century Swedish Gustavian Accent Chair

About the Item

Anonymous Mid-19th century; Sweden Pine, linen. Approximate size: 35 (h) x 23 (w) x 18.5 (d) in. (seat height is 16.5 in.) This beautiful period chair showcases a lovely white washed patina and beautiful hand-carved features that reflect the distinguished yet simple refined lines belonging to the Gustavian tradition. As a stand-alone chair, it exudes an understated elegance that highlights the craftsmanship and artistry involved in its creation while reflecting a synthesis of the individuality and collective cultural expression of the period, being a testimony of beauty, simplicity, and practicality. Condition commensurate with age. Linen cushion is a later replacement. Otherwise, the chair is in its original condition and is stable.
