About the Item
This is a wonderful pair of antique Renaissance Curule or Savonarola Style Chairs with carved loins heads beneath carved scrolls on the arm posts and a carved crest between the posts. The rest of the chair including the bases are also finished with appropriate carving giving the chairs an impressive appearance. The seat has wooden slats which may have held a cushion and there are some holes from long inactive woodworms throughout the chairs. There are some older professional and repairs including an added slat on the back of one chair and some other obvious glue repairs but the chairs are sturdy and will last a long time.
The chair backs are 33 1/2 inches tall, the chairs are 24 inches wide and 21 inches deep. The arm height is from the floor is 24 inches and from the seat is 10 inches. The seat depth is 14 inches, width is 13 inches and height from the floor is 14 1/2 inches.
