About the Item

Extraordinary dining chairs model S41 designed by Edoardo Landi and manufactured by Studio D, Italy 1973. These chairs are designed by Architect Landi in 1973 and was produced in a very small series by StudioD, together with some chairs, cabinets, and tables from the same series. These chairs are made of solid pine wood and have a black stained finish which gives them the appearance of being burned. These chairs are a typical architects design, its clearly visible in the way its constructed and shaped. The chairs are made of several square slats, glued symmetrically to the seat which is the centre part that holds everything together. The chairs are different from every angle and have a nice brutalist shape. The square structure gives the chairs a minimal look, but the big slats make them chairs look slightly bulky. That’s why it’s nice that the legs and back show several openings in between so the chairs still look transparent and light. This is one of the most extraordinary chairs we have seen recently. Documentation is available but not included in the sale. We have 2 matching tables from the same series available as well in another listing. Chairs are priced and sold individually; we have 14 chairs available in total, chairs can be purchase in pairs of 2. Edoardo Landi studied architecture at the Scuola Superiore di Disegno Industriale, Venice. 1959–1964 founding member of Gruppo N. 1965/1966 member of Gruppo enne 65. He lives in Vigliano Biellese, IT. Literateure: E. L., »Landi, Opere 1961–1971«, Abano Terme, 1972. See also: Gruppo N.

Mario Marenco Sapporo chairs for Mobil Girgi Italy 1970
By Mobil Girgi, Mario Marenco
Located in Roosendaal, Noord Brabant
Wonderful set of Sapporo dining chairs designed by Mario Marenco for Mobil Girgi in Italy in 1970. These chairs are made from Italian walnut with a stunning grain pattern. The seats are original and have aged beautiful, showing a charming, worn-in leather look. What makes these chairs special is their unique design. They have a hammer-shaped backrest that looks nice and provides good support. The seats are wide and comfortable for long meals. One cool thing about these chairs is how they're put together. Two slim slats go from the top of the backrest all the way down to the bottom, where they connect with a horizontal slat. This design makes the chairs look simple and modern. Kindly note that the chairs are priced and sold in a set of 6 but we have 12 of these chairs available as shown on the pictures. Mario Marenco was born in 1933. He studied architecture in Naples and won research grants for Stockholm and Chicago. In 1960 he opened in Rome his own atelier of architecture and...

Augusto Bozzi Ariston dining chairs Saporiti Italy 1954
By Saporiti, Augusto Bozzi
Located in Roosendaal, Noord Brabant
Highly rare and beautiful set of 6 so called ‘Ariston’ dining chairs designed by Augusto Bozzi and manufactured by Saporiti, Italy 1954. These chairs have a pressed plywood seat which is finished with teak veneer at the front and back, the black painted metal wire frame supports the seats. The structure provides stability and also a nice contrast with the deep coloured plywood seats. The seats are only connected to the base with 2 screws which are decoratively worked away in the seat, but these details also support the aesthetics of the design. This style was popular in the 1950s. Bozzi was one of the designers who gained credits for his designs during that period, putting Saporiti on the map and becoming one of the big players...
