About the Item
FRP manufacturing technology was introduced to Japan from America in 1954, as exemplified by the Charles & Ray Eames chairs of the 1950s.
By making it possible to create free three-dimensional curved surfaces that were impossible with conventional molded plywood, Isamu Kenmochi, Sori Yanagi, Kenzo Tange, and other designers and architects of the time created numerous FRP products together with Kotobuki, the pioneer Japanese FRP manufacturer.
The chair introduced this time is also designed by Isamu Kenmochi and released by Kotobuki.
This is a vintage product from the 60's. This model can be found in the book "Kenmochi Isamu's World".
The back has the Kotobuki chair mark and ISAM KENMOCHI ASSOCIATES embossed mark.
The shell is made of FRP, moquette (brown), urethane pad, and the base is made of steel.
Isamu Kenmochi established himself as a designer from an early age in Japan and has produced many masterpieces, which are highly acclaimed worldwide.
He is one of the indispensable designers when talking about mid-century Japan.
It is composed of a body curved to match the line of its body and four stable legs.
It is a product that is both practical and comfortable to sit on.
The intricately curved form creates a chair with a well-balanced style that combines high design and practicality, giving it a very modern feel.
