About the Item

Richard Riemerschmid designed the original model of the ‘Musikzimmerstuhl’ in 1898/99. The so-called “Music room chair” was part of the interieur of a music salon, which was designed by the Munich Art Nouveau architect Richard Riemerschmid for the “Deutsche Kunstausstellung Dresden 1899”. The original chair was manufactured by the Vereinigte Werkstätten für Kunst und Handwerk, Munich. On the occasion of the company’s 100th anniversary a limited edition of ca. 100 copies of this model were made by the original maker Vereinigte Werkstätten für Kunst und Handwerk, Munich. This example made in lacquered beech with a red leather seat. In all original pristine condition. We do have a pair available, priced individually. Literature: Take a Seat: Masterpieces of Chair Design, Neumann, ppg. 42-43.
