Beautiful set of 4 Biedermeier balloon chairs from Franconia, Germany around 1825. Walnut veneered on beech and oak in mirror image. Solid walnut, curved square legs. Two ebonized, convex full columns as back decoration. Old restored condition of the wood. Newly upholstered with dark brown suede. Very good seating comfort. This exquisite set of 4 original Biedermeier chairs is a rare find. The so called original Biedermeier Ochsenkopf-Stuehle (ox-head chairs) get their name from their beautifully designed back. They date back to around 1820 and come from Southern Germany. The chairs are embellished with a gorgeous walnut veneer.
