Nordiska Kompaniet 'Hytte' Armchair in Solid Pine, Swedish Modern, 1940s
By Nordiska Kompaniet, Axel Einar Hjorth, David Rosén
Located in The Hague, NL
This rare armchair was produced by the Swedish company Nordiska Kompaniet in the early 1940s. It belongs to the 'Hytte' series, which is documented in several NK catalogs and advertisements from the time. After Hjorth, designer David Rosén carried on this style, creating several series for Nordiska Kompaniet. Crafted entirely from pinewood, the chair features club-shaped, tapered legs connected by stretchers, a slatted and slightly curved backrest, and carved armrests. It is versatile and can be used as a desk chair or an elegant side chair. The chair remains in completely original condition, with a natural and even patina on the pinewood. It shows minor wear consistent with age and use. One of the four furniture...
