Vintage Hollywood Regency Charlotte Chair Co Accent Chair Black with Cane Back

About the Item

Stunning Mid-20th Century distressed Hollywood Regency Charlotte Chair Company accent chair with black painted wood frame, radial weave natural cane back inset, off-white canvas seat, brass ring upper leg details, and front brass sabots. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. This chair has an overall aged patina, specifically scuffs & scratches mostly on the top inside back of the chair. We purposely left its finish as is because we feel it enhances the vintage beauty of this chair. It does have a new white canvas seat fabric. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Mid-20th Century. This chair is SINGLE and ready to MINGLE… right into your home!!!! And I’m here to tell you… it is SO attractive, it’s going to be hard to resist!! That’s right, this is a GORGEOUS vintage accent chair by The Charlotte Chair Company comprised of a sultry black painted wood frame featuring a handsome radial weave natural cane back inset, a stunning newly upholstered off-white canvas seat, sexy splayed square back legs (which is also the back support,) beautiful recessed brass ring upper leg details on the front and they’re topped with sassy brass sabots. I mean… HELLO!!! (Insert whistle!) It also features an attractive top rail with pointed sides and if you look closely at the photos you will see some distressing in the black paint on the frame. Well, we felt like this patina enhanced the original unique-ness of the piece and almost took us on a journey through the life it’s lived. We didn’t want to mess with that story so we chose not to alter it. However, we DID decide if this chair was going to put itself out there into the world, it would need a wardrobe change. I mean, we all love pink roses on the right occasion, but THIS was just un-flattering… and quite distracting of all of the incredible features this chair has to offer. We think this fabulous new off-white attire compliments the figure of this beauty MUCH better!! More like that “little black dress.” Now, it goes anywhere!! Sometimes simplicity speaks volumes and now this chair is ready to be HEARD!!! LOL!! And don’t let the sleek figure of this baby fool you… it’s quite heavier than it looks… (shhh!) what we mean is, it is sturdy and SOLID! It is Hollywood Regency in style with a little Art Deco flair but its presence will compliment many décor styles whether Mid-Century Modern, Minimalist, Maximalist, or Neoclassical!! And it is versatile enough to go just about anywhere! Whether in a dressing area, a corner of your bedroom, an accent chair in your sitting room, or at the entry for a chic spot to remove your shoes. Let me tell you… this is the one you’ve been looking for!! Charlotte Chair Company was established in 1912 by E. J. Elles & Frank Spaulding but eventually in 1921, E.J. Ellis became the sole owner and the plant grew tremendously. At that time the company’s only product was dining room chairs, which had a special locking method to secure the seat and arms to the back of the chair. It was merchandised with furniture from other manufacturers. By 1935, Edward Elles joined the company and would soon become the GM and eventually, the sole owner. The company would go on to build many chairs for commercial businesses such as offices, restaurants, and the Chicago Civic Center. By 1956, the company changed focus and began repairing and reproducing antique chairs and then in 1969, the Charlotte Chair Company sold to The Illinois Iron and Bolt Company. When something as FANTASTIC as THIS little number hits the market… everyone is ready to sink their claws in!! Don’t let this phenomenal accent chair by The Charlotte Chair Company be the “one that got away!” Do it… Make it YOURS!!! 4 Hollywood Regency Chinese Chippendale Style Black Accent Chairs by Thomasville
By Thomasville
Located in Topeka, KS
Fabulous vintage Hollywood Regency Chinoiserie Chinese Chippendale style Thomasville black low profile accent occasional chairs, set of 4. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, all 4 chairs have natural, distressed edges from age & wear which we have enhanced giving them a gorgeous patinated look then added a fresh coat of lacquer. A couple of small holes in the vinyl have been repaired. They can be used as is, but most will want to reupholster. They are priced accordingly. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa 1971. You know, 1971 was a VERY good year… There were 3 partial solar eclipses AND there were TWO total lunar eclipses in the SAME year!!… The FIRST EVER Starbucks opened at the historic Pike Place Market in Seattle, Washington… A movie ticket only cost $1.50… Oh ya… AND it’s the year I was BORN!! (Hmmmmm, those eclipses may explain a few things in my life!) LOL…Anyway, how privileged am I to share a birthday with these MARVELOUS occasional chairs by Thomasville!!! This is a set of four incredible Thomasville low profile occasional chairs in the style of James Mont covered in a deep black faux ebony finish bearing a naturally distressed all-over patina on their frames. They have wide, square seats wearing lovely black vinyl or faux leather fabric that is nice enough to use for a while but eventually you may want to reupholster. Just think of the limitless fabric possibilities!!! They feature beautifully carved Asian detailed backs and straight square legs with a wide and sturdy stance. The front legs have a slightly turned in foot, but no rounded hoof look so not quite the Ming style, but we might say a hint or bit of flair. They are definitely bursting with styles of Hollywood Regency, Chinoiserie, and Chinese Chippendale magnificence and are sure to be a favorite new addition to your home! They are too low for use at a standard dining table; however, if you have a low profile Asian Chabudai (Japanese short-legged table,) or a low-profile game table, these would be a perfect fit!! Otherwise, you could certainly use them as extra seating in your living or family room or split them up and use two in the corner of your bedroom and two in the sitting room or study across from your fireplace. They are very versatile, composed of solid frames, and they bear an unmatchable and timeless Thomasville reputation!! They are EXACTLY what the designer ordered! The original Thomasville furniture company was founded in 1904. At the time, it was called the Thomasville chair company since the company focused on producing chairs exclusively. Over the next few decades, the catalog expanded to include additional furniture pieces. During this time, the original company went through several owners; despite this, the company still experienced financial success even through economic hardship of the 1930s. Vintage pieces from the Thomasville Furniture company run the gamut from chairs to dining room furniture and many different types of furniture in between. The earliest pieces from the company, when it was still known as the Thomasville Chair Company, are considered the most rare and valuable. If you are looking for authentic Thomasville vintage pieces, you will need to find them on the secondhand market. Thomasville Furniture is one of the most recognized furniture companies in America. You can count on Thomasville furniture for incredible dining room and bedroom furniture. – vintage furniture...
