A Pair of Custom Normandy Club Chairs Attributed to Jean de Merry, 20th C.

About the Item

This pair embodies artisanal craftsmanship at its finest. Handcrafted in the early 2000s at the now-closed Jean de Merry workshop in Los Angeles, these chairs were originally commissioned by a prominent gallerist and are no longer available to order. The sculpted wood frames rest on walnut feet and feature hand-tied coil spring seats and arms—an old-world construction technique prized for its resilience and comfort. Wrapped in hand-distressed, tobacco-hued leather, each chair displays a richly aged patina that enhances its classic silhouette. A subtle row of nail head trim along the back adds a refined architectural detail. The feather-down envelope seat cushions offer luxurious sink-in softness while maintaining their tailored form. A perfect blend of rustic elegance and understated luxury, these club chairs bring gravitas and warmth to any interior, from moody studies to refined living spaces. In excellent vintage condition with typical wear from use. No visible mark.

Located in Atlanta, GA
A pair of "Nautalis" armchairs in complementary mirrored composition attributed to Directional which in 1999 merged under Tomlinson/Erwin-Lambeth, Inc., Thomasville, North Carolina, where they were originally purchased in early 2000s. Fully upholstered in a luxurious textured fabric with slightly raised copper, bronze and silver medallion patterns, these chairs are modern in its organic form but also glamorous instead of being austere. They are practical chairs equipped with swiveling base and seat very comfortable with soft foam. The design was likely by Kagan. The color of the upholstery is rather dazzling with a silver and bronze subtle metallic tone and texture. The last three pictures...
