A Vintage Pair of Leather Club Chairs, France 1940
About the Item
This pair of vintage French Art Deco club chairs dates to the height of pre-war modern design. While many furniture pieces of the Art Deco period are rounded and streamlined, these chairs feature some rectilinear angles on the arms and front feet that make them unique. The delicate light brown color has a softness and subtle patina. Each chair has a unique patina earned only by wear and use. The proportions and overall shape are excellent -not over-scaled or showy. The chairs are comfortable and highly coveted today because of their stylish, minimalist design and relatively compact proportions. The patina is quite uniform --and considerable. There are many small scuffs and abrasions. The original leather cushions were replaced with leather ones as well. Springs and stiffing are original. Some restoration of the leather is available.
