The Boomerang chair, model ‘370’, by Alfred Christensen, crafted in the 1960s, reflects a sculptural approach to modern Danish design. Its defining feature is the sharply angled back legs that sweep forward into the seat frame, evoking the shape of a boomerang. The rear view reveals an elegant tension between solidity and lightness – the broad, gently curved backrest contrasts with the narrow tapering legs. The chair’s negative space is just as considered as its mass; the open lower back lightens the silhouette. Made from warm teak, the wood grain adds a subtle organic texture that softens the geometric rigor. The upholstered seat floats slightly above the frame, adding comfort without compromising the visual clarity.
