About the Item

Introducing a single Danish Modern "Lis" ladderback armchair in stunning 100% original, vintage condition. Beautifully proportioned and featuring softly curved arms as well as bow-tie shaped "ribs" along the backrest - all carved from solid walnut. A tall and beautifully angled frame maintains comfort while showcasing a understated yet elegant form that Neils Koefoed is synonymous with. Danish furniture designer and factory owner Niels Koefoed created a wide range of dining room furniture in the typical Danish Modern style during the Mid-Century period. Following in the footsteps of his father Einar Koefoed, who founded Koefoeds Hornslet in 1926, Niels began designing furniture in the mid 1950's. By the early 60's Niels Koefoed was owner and operator of Koefoeds Hornslet as well as chief designer creating some of his most iconic models such as the "Eva", "Lis" and "Ingrid" chairs (all named after important women in Niels' life). Koefoed Hornselt, named after both the founder's name and the town it was located in, was initially dedicated to producing fine furniture, although Niels’ most popular designs eventually pushed dining room chair production to the fore of their business. In 2004, Koefoed Hornslet moved production to Thailand, where it continues to this very day. Although a number of Koefoed’s designs are produced by furniture manufacturer Casø, it is the original Mid-Century era productions that are in great demand on the vintage market. Ideal for collectors and designers alike searching for an entirely untouched "Lis" armchair that is in 100% original, vintage condition this ladderback can easily complete a larger set or sit alone as an accent chair. The warm walnut woodgrains and iconic design make this exceptional "Lis" chair perfect for a myriad of design backdrops from Mid-Century Modern to Contemporary to Minimalism and everything in between. Add it to your set or make it the accent chair you've been searching for - either way make it yours today before it's gone forever. ---Dimensions--- Width: 22 in / 55.88 cm Depth: 22 in / 55.88 cm Height: 37.5 in / 95.25 cm Seat Height: 17.5 in / 44.45 cm Arm Height: 25.5 in / 64.77 cm This iconic ladderback "Lis" armchair is in 100% original, vintage condition and has aged to perfection! The vinyl seat cover shows only minor pin-pricks (which can be seen in the detail photos provided) but showing no tears, stains or odors whatsoever.
