About the Item

A pair of Georgian period, stained elm country chairs, dating from the early 19th century. Solid elm frames with plain plank seats. Pierced back splats. Quality country chairs. Very well presented and ready for use. Dimensions: These chairs measure approximately 87 cm (34.25") tall, 48 cm (19") wide, and 47 cm (18.5") deep. The seat height is approximately 45.75 cm (18"). Condition: Please see the pictures for details of the items condition. - These chairs are in a good original condition and are structurally sound and sturdy. There are some minor marks, blemishes and wear on the frame. No loose joints. One front foot on one chair hasa small repair to a corner, the other chair has a few worm holes to the front edge. Whicch does not affect the sturdiness in anyway, is typical of old elm furniture, and has been treated by way of precaution. The back edge of the seat on one chair has aged and warped slightly, creating a gap. This has been left as repairing it would cause damage. This is the original seat and the warping does not affect it structually in any way. Lovely aged patina with appropriate aged wear through some of the stained timber, good colour and pleasing wax polish throughout. These chairs have been through the workshop and have been sensitively cleaned and waxed, and are very much ready to be used. - As with all vintage & antique furniture there will be signs of use, marks, wear & tear, etc.
