Kartell 4875 Chair by Carlo Bartoli in Glossy Red, 1980s Edition

About the Item

Beautiful and rare chair designed by Carlo Bartoli for Kartell in a glossy red hue. The model 4875 chair is the first chair in the world made of injection – molded polypropylene. Carlo Bartoli designed it in 1970, Kartell started production in 1974 and the chair was a huge success worldwide for the innovative design and the quality of materials. Moreover its versatility allowed both indoors and outdoors use, because they are resistant to shocks and atmospheric agents. In model 4875, chair and back are a single body, only the legs can be unscrewed. The 4875 chair received a nomination for the golden compass in 1979, it belongs to the permanent exhibition of the national museum of arts – Center Pompidou – Paris and of course of the Kartell museum. This piece was produced in 1984. The brand and designer’s marks – as well as the year of production – are stamped on the bottom side of the chair.
