About the Item
Notable Italian made set of chairs with classic Klismos form in walnut with gilt inlay carved inset back panels and hand-caned seats. The attention to detail in the construction is very fine, particularly noticeable in the delicately fluted carving of the upper back panels. Paper labels on the underside of the seat bear style numbers and the name Tipo Baratelli, possibly the maker’s name or workshop.
Measures: 18 1/2" W. x 19” D. x 39 1/2" H., seat height 20.5”.
Condition: Each chair has stable splits of the side panels with some of the inlay detached or missing on some. Does not affect the overall beauty and sturdiness of the chairs. Cane seats are good, the finish is fine and the set presents exceptionally well.
