This chair is a Danish lounge chair from the 1950s. Its form demonstrates the Scandinavian commitment to refined simplicity, organic proportion, and the honest use of materials. The backrest is tall and rounded, almost oval in shape, creating a broad protective surface that softly envelops the sitter. The curve is uninterrupted and smooth, giving the chair a sculptural calmness. The arms are integrated into the sweep of the backrest, beginning high and tapering downward with a subtle inward angle. The seat is low and rectangular, with a flat surface that contrasts with the curvature of the back. The frame is made of teak, a material favored in mid-century Danish furniture for its warmth, durability, and fine grain. The legs are long, slim, and slightly splayed, giving the chair a light stance and an almost architectural clarity. They extend upward to form the arm supports, exposing the structure rather than concealing it. This visible junction of wood and fabric reflects the Danish principle of honesty in construction.
