About the Item
Jean-Marie Massaud Auckland Lounge Chair For Cassina
An updated version of the classic, inviting, comfortable lounge chair juxtaposes different materials and thicknesses to lend present-day relevance and versatility.
Auckland is one of Cassina’s swivel armchair models. It is also available with a headrest adjustable to eight height positions. The upholstery choices for this design armchair are leather or removable fabric.
PADDING
CFC-free polyurethane foam and polyester batting.
INTERNAL STRUCTURE
Metal.
HEADREST
Adjustable to eight height options.
In designing Auckland, Jean Marie Massaud undertakes a restatement, in a contemporary key, of the classic lounge chair, which serves to reconfirm the original looks and comfort of this timeless classic. The seat of this swivel chair, available in black or white with optional foot-rest, is characterised by the seat’s shell-shaped structure, left deliberately exposed to evoke the armour worn by Kendo fighters. The shell protects the upholstered parts of the chair and is linked to the four-spoked base by a cantilevered metal support. This unusual arrangement confers a very faint, yet pleasurable, oscillating movement. The chair is complemented by a head-rest adjustable to eight height-options.

He began to work both in Asia and in France, finally opening his own office in Paris in 1994. Since than, he has dedicated himself to industrial and furniture design, building important relationships with brands such as Authentics, Baccarat and Magis. Mario Bellini 'Cab' Lounge Chair, Tubular Steel and Leather by Cassina
By Mario Bellini, Cassina
Located in Barcelona, Barcelona
Loounge chair designed by Mario Bellini in 2015. Manufactured by Cassina in Italy.
Roomy and inviting, cab lounge is a restatement of the cab chair concept. Nothing short of a masterpiece of craftsmanship, the Cab Lounge armchair is perfectly suited to both residential or contract use. The leather upholstery fits the tubular steel frame like an exquisitely tailored garment, complementing the curves, in a perfect symbiosis between the structural and the organic. The eleven leather sections, hand-stitched and fitted with four zipper closures, undergo fourteen hand-executed processes before they are complete. Fitted with a reclining mechanism, the five-spoke base sets off the entire chair, while the ergonomically correct design renders it extraordinarily comfortable; the care taken in the details is without equal.
