About the Item

David Horan (born in Dublin, 1982) is a multidisciplinary designer and manufacturer based in London. With a Master of Arts in Design Products from the Royal College of Art 2013, he cut his cloth with London-designers Faye Toogood and Michael Anastassiades, before opening his own studio in 2021. This handmade lounge chair is part of the inaugural furniture and lighting collection by Horan entitled Paper. The collection was designed exclusively with Béton Brut and sees Horan as a modern decoupeur, applying his material to an original series of works. Informed by French craft traditions of decoupage and the Japanese Mingei movement, Horan innovates with layering handmade heritage paper to create a new applied ‘vegan vellum’. The collection is grounded in forms as precise as they are architectonic. Evoking Deco and Classical, the geometries contain harmony in ratio. This lounge chair experiments with de-composition as re-composition, combining layers of handmade heritage paper to produce a soft natural appearance that is pleasing to the eye. Subtle creases across the surface produce a beautiful stone-like quality. A top layer of matte lacquer is applied by hand to protect the paper and provide it with a slight sheen. Priced as pictured, in the matte lacquer. Available on a made to order basis in polished or matte lacquer finishes. Each piece is signed and numbered on the underside.

Set of 2 Contemporary Block Form Yellow Velvet Chair by Pietro Franceschini
Located in Geneve, CH
Set of 2 Licitra chairs by Pietro Franceschini Dimensions: W 62 x D 71 x H 95 cm Materials: mohair velvet Somebody once said that simplicity is the essence of happiness. So I dedicated this work to my friend Caterina Licitra. Licitra chair challenges the ability to simplify, eliminating the unnecessary so that the necessary can speak. The hardedged and bold silhouette speaks a clean language made of a few primitive volumes that firmly fit together. The soft and bright texture of the yellow Pierre Frey Mohair brings a contrast. The blend is sculptural and playful making Licitra a love-at-first-sight. The piece is locally manufactured in Milan and two versions in different fabrics will follow. The perfect location for the launch is the iconic Le Corbusier’s Unité...
