Pair of Mushroom Chairs In White Bouclé Wool by Pierre Paulin for Artifort, 1960

About the Item

A pair of newly upholstered Mushroom chairs designed by Pierre Paulin, in white bouclé. The mushroom chair was designed in the 1960s and was made to be extremely comfortable as well as stylish. The cupped shape of the chair allows you to sink in to its form and makes you feel part of the sculptural design, creating a very cosy and relaxing experience. Pierre Paulin was a French furniture and interior designer. From the late 1950s until 1975, Paulin was a long time collaborator with Dutch furniture manufacturer Artifort, who allowed Paulin creative freedom to experiment with the form of furniture and its adaptability with the human body. Many of Paulin's designs were rotund as well as being ergonomic. He enjoyed the use of bold, smooth lines and exaggerating body shapes. The mushroom chair reflects these concepts in every way. This pair have been completely reupholstered to a very high standard using white bouclé wool.
