Spectacular pair of lounge chairs designed by Janine Abraham & Dirk Jan Rol and made in France during the late 1950s. This incredibly rare sculptural rattan chairs are considered the "Nirvana" of French Riviera organic design. These basketware chairs are in exceptional conditions and come from the same project, making the wonderful light honey color of the rattan extremely even between the two. We do have available also the mirror and the pouf that can complete this incredibly unique set. These stylish lounge chairs were fully hand-crafted in curved rattan and hand-woven wicker. The perfect proportions of these chairs are mind-blowing. The center of the seating is enriched by a wonderful work in woven wicker. The seats are supported by a stunning black enameled frame in bent metal. The geometric frame and legs show Rol’s background in architecture and add modernity to the organic material of the seat. The chairs are completed by a round cushion in an elegant white boucle fabric. The spectacular build quality and the organic materials make thhem light yet extremely sturdy. These fabulous French Riviera lounge chairs are perfect for an organic modern project and are a must have for all the French Riviera style lovers. Chairs Dimensions (cm): Depth - 87 Width - 88 Height - 92 Seat Height - 42 French-born designer Janine Abraham studied at the École Camondo in Paris, graduating in 1952. She met Dutch-born designer Dirk Jan Rol at the studio of Jacques Dumond in 1955. The following year, in 1956, the pair showed their first collaborative work at the Salon des Artistes Decorateurs. Abraham and Rol launched their own agency in 1957, creating modernist furniture characterized by clean, elegant lines—notably the rattan and enameled metal Lemon and Corolle chairs (both 1957), the sleek Sapelli wood and lacquered metal Plywood Chair (1960), and the steel and black vinyl Sofa Bed (1962). While little else is known about the duo, Rol went on to focus on architecture, creating sculptural structures that combined and celebrated nature and interiors.
