About the Item

In 1931 the Maharaja of Indore - Maharajadhiraj Raj Rajeshwar Sawai Shri Sir Yeshwant Rao II Holkar XIV Bahadur - who was a very well educated and open minded person ordered a modern palace by eckart muthesius. he was very interested in art deco and the modernist movement in europe. for the interieur muthesius use furniture, lamps and carpets by eileen gray, le corbusier, jacques-emile ruhlmann, louis sognot, charlotte perriand and ivan da silva bruhns. he also created the famous red lounge chair, that was only made in two pieces for the library. It had build in lights and a cigaret space and ashtray. All metal parts are nickel-plated. In 1989 the company vereinigte werkstätten münchen made a strictly limited re-edition of 25+1 pieces. We are very happy and proud to offer one of these ultra rare, iconic and extremely well made chairs.
