About the Item

Introducing a rare Model 2026CL chaise lounge sofa designed by the incomparable Adrian Pearsall, this iconic "Cloud" sofa is the epitome of functional art. Audacious in it's scope, shape and materials utilized this sofa is a true American masterpiece. Featuring new white cotton bouclé fabric from Knoll Fabrics, new support straps and professionally re-finished walnut tapered legs this sofa is perhaps the best conditioned Cloud sofa available for sale anywhere in the Western Hemisphere. The solid American black walnut legs show exceptional old-growth woodgrains that are breathtaking from all angles. In homage to the late great Pearsall this sofa was painstakingly restored using the same techniques, materials and sewing patterns used by the Craft Associates factory and even includes the original foam cushions to assure precise size and ply of the newly upholstered fabric. Born in 1925 Adrian Pearsall began designing and building furniture in 1952 with his company named 'Craft Associates' which started first in his home shop and grew to a company with more than 650 craftsmen and employees. Pearsall’s work not only helped define Mid-Century Modern but also the idea that function does not have to be sacrificed for beauty. With most furniture before the mid-century being highly ornate and lacking in utilitarian use, his work was a much welcomed change. Clean lines, organic shapes, and black American walnut wood are just a few elements often found in Pearsall’s furniture and all are on display with this magnificent brutalist sofa. This visually captivating sofa is absolutely arresting from all sides and is sure to make a BOLD statement in any space it inhabits. Ideal for collectors and designers alike this iconic sofa can blend seamlessly against a myriad of design backdrops from Mid-Century Modern to Minimalism to Contemporary and everywhere in between. With its clever mix of curves and sharp lines, new Knoll bouclé upholstery and refinished wood this sofa is ready for a literal lifetime more of use. Make it yours today before it's truly gone forever. ---Dimensions--- Width: 58 in / 147.32 cm Depth: 36 in / 91.44 cm Height: 31.5 in / 80.01 cm Seat Height: 16 in / 40.64 cm This stunning Model 2026CL "Cloud" chaise lounge sofa by Adrian Pearsall for Craft Associates has recently undergone a comprehensive and transformative restoration process and the results speak for themselves. Grande Divano Curvo Boomerang Sofa, After Gio Ponti, C. 1950
By Gio Ponti
Located in Culver City, CA
This has to be one of the most beautiful sofas our gallery has ever had. This piece is early Italian1950's. Similar to pieces by Gio Ponti, Ico Parisi and Vladimir Kagan this large curved sofa features walnut legs and has been reupholstered in a fine, white, Belgian boucle. The boomerang-shaped sofa is a true masterpiece that embodies the essence of Italian design. Italian modern design is known for its clean lines, bold shapes, and exquisite attention to detail, making them timeless pieces of art that have stood the test of time. This particular sofa, is a stunning piece that exudes elegance and sophistication. The unique boomerang shape of the sofa is both stylish and practical, as it offers a comfortable seating experience while also being a visually striking addition to any room. The sofa is upholstered in a white Belgian boucle fabric, which adds to its luxurious appeal and complements its sleek design. This boomerang shaped sofa measures 90" long on the longer side, and 75" long on the shorter side. This gorgeous sofa could fit into a corner, but hiding those 9 splayed cone legs, and curved back lines wouldn't quite do this sofa justice. This vintage Italian piece is constructed with the highest level of quality. This sofa in particular has 8 way hand tied springs, the seating cushion has springs, the stuffing all horsehair and the upholstery was a worn mohair. We have remarkable photos documenting sofa before and during restoration. While Gio Ponti is regarded as one of the most significant Italian designers; his contemporaries, such as Achille Castiglioni, Vico Magistretti, and Ettore Sottsass, also contributed to the world of Italian design. Castiglioni, for instance, was known for his playful and functional designs, while Magistretti was renowned for his minimalist aesthetic. Sottsass, on the other hand, was a pioneer of the Memphis Group, which was known for its bold and colorful designs. We currently have this sofa in the gallery alongside a pair of Jean Royere chairs...
