Ottoman designed by Rodolfo Dordoni in 2020. Manufactured by Cassina in Italy. Round pouf from Sail Out Outdoor collection, in two sizes, consisting of segments that converge towards a little hidden hole designed to drain off water. A weighted cushion on the pouf can be used as an armrest or to support a tray. Since then, he has designed for most of the leading names in the furniture and lighting sectors. For some of these, as head of design, he sets and co-ordinates the strategy of the product. Since years, he worked as a designer and a consultant for high level brands, for product design with Artemide and Moroso, and for shops, showrooms and exhibitions with Panasonic and Dolce & Gabbana. He also designs housing projects, villas, industrial buildings, restaurants and hotels both in Italy and worldwide. In 2005 he founded, with Alessandro Acerbi and Luca Zaniboni, the Dordoni Architects Studio, which is dedicated specifically to architectural planning and interior design. About the manufacturer: In a continuing dialogue between past, present, and future, Cassina has created the I Maestri collection, revisiting furnishing designs by the 20th century’s best-known architects, including Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Gerrit Thomas Rietveld, Franco Albini, Frank Lloyd Wright and Marco Zanuso. Furniture manufacturer Cassina is a prolific design house for more reasons than one: It not only owns the licenses to an exquisite collection of iconic chairs, sofas, tables and other pieces from the 20th and 21st centuries but also produces original works that are characterized by innovation and the finest Italian craftsmanship.

Cassina’s illustrious legacy includes being one of the first companies to bring industrial design to Italy in the 1950s. Founded in 1927 in Meda, Italy, by brothers Cesare and Umberto Cassina, the Italian manufacturing giant originally specialized in bespoke woodworking. In nearly a century since its founding, the company has shown incredible foresight about design trends and the evolution of technology.

In 1964, Cassina signed an exclusive licensing agreement to manufacture furniture by Le Corbusier and his collaborators — such as the LC4 chaise longue made with trailblazing French modernist Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret — a move that would shape the future of the company. Cassina’s I Maestri collection is an ongoing initiative to restyle landmark designs from the 20th century, such as pieces by Gerrit Rietveld (the Red and Blue armchair from 1918), Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Erik Gunnar Asplund, Franco Albini and Frank Lloyd Wright. The company preserves the intentions and original styles of their designs but adds updated techniques, materials and processes — rendering them the best possible combination of past, present and future. This family of products makes a bold statement with its generous cylindrical foot, connecting its structural perimeter while delimiting the objects that compose it. The distinctive metal rim that supports the seats, the tables, the cabinets, graphically encompasses the material with which they are made. This is beautifully portrayed in the tables, where the marble tabletop matches with the legs in turned marble, or with the armchairs featuring leather seats and legs of the same color. With the massive dimensions and the softness of the fittings, the materials are enhanced in their characteristics creating a sculptural effect and giving a distinct personality to each element of the collection. Structure: Die casted aluminum on the angular elements and extruded aluminum for the supporting structure on the perimeter. Internal structure in wood with metal supporting frame. Cushions: Back cushions in high grammage wadding with internal rubber insert. Seat cushions in polyurethane rubber of different densities. Covers: Back covers are completely removable for both fabric and leather versions. Base: The sofa, armchair and ottoman are based on the Bold family of castings. The Bold castings are made of Italian aluminum, die casted inhouse at Ghidini1961. Polished manually, and lacquered with a transparent finish to guarantee a long lasting durability.
