French Provincial Louis XV Walnut Settee. Made of Circassian Walnut with scrolled arms over eight carved and molded legs with cross stretchers. Recently reupholstered, great proportions, and very comfortable. Made in Provence circa 1820.
A graceful and generously scaled French Provincial Louis XV settee, crafted in Provence circa 1820. This elegant piece is made from richly patinated Circassian walnut, prized for its fine grain and warm depth of tone. The carved frame features sinuous cabriole legs, a scalloped apron, and delicately hand-carved floral and foliate motifs typical of the Louis XV style.
The settee's tall, shaped back and wide seat offer a stately yet comfortable presence, while the curved arms and cross-stretcher base provide structural integrity and sculptural charm. Recently reupholstered in a refined natural linen-blend fabric, the settee retains its antique character while being updated for contemporary living.
