About the Item

This George Hunziger Chair is not only beautiful but carries an important role in the history furniture . George Hunzinger was a furniture maker during the later half of the 19th century. He emigrated to the United States in 1855 and began manufacturing furniture in New York City. Like his contemporary furniture makers of the Victorian Age, Hunzinger's pieces are very decorative. What is unique about his furniture is the innovative and distinctive designs he patented. Hunzinger was a Victorian-era inventor (he held 21 patents) and designer whose commercially successful body of work embraced machine production methods and materials. This chair is made from turned walnut and has newer crewel fabric on the seat and velvet on the upper inside and back. The outside back is a chenille velvet. Thte chair is stamped and signed and can be seen in photos. To view all of our listings at Tiffany Farha Design, scroll down and click on VIEW ALL FROM SELLER.
