About the Item

Late 18th century pair of George III period side chairs, English. Mahogany with bowed shield backs and serpentine seat front. Reeding and carving harmonize the entire design from shields to legs. An elegantly carved urn centers the middle rising to a spreading acanthus leaf. Superb timber quality creates quite heavy chairs. Minor old repairs commensurate with age and use. From a fine St. Louis collection. 20.5" w., 19.5" d., 36.75" h.
